Troubleshooting & backups

Resolve common setup and catalog problems, and preserve data during updates.

F9 does not open the menu

Check FS-Lib starts before FS-VehicleHub and both are current built resources. Try /vehiclehub, or the renamed command in your config. Check Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM for an existing player override or conflicting binding. Changing MenuKey does not overwrite a player's saved keybind.

The admin organizer will not open

Verify the player's group has fs_vehiclehub.admin, or your configured ACE. Keep Config.AdminAce.Enabled = true. Turning it off makes the shared editor public rather than fixing group membership.

A model is unavailable or takes a long time

Check the spawn code, addon resource start order, and server game build. A catalog entry lists a model; it does not install or stream vehicle files itself. The admin Health check helps locate unavailable entries.

First-use models may need downloading/caching. Vehicle Hub allows up to two minutes for model loading, while cached models proceed when ready. A separate initialization timeout handles a vehicle that cannot finish spawning. There is no public spawn-delay setting.

Some newer GTA vehicles and plate styles need a newer game build. Trains require a dedicated train spawner. An unavailable addon may also have incorrect or incomplete metadata.

Wheel, neon, or modification options are disabled

The model may not support those options, even when an addon reports possible choices. Vehicle Hub disables unsupported changes. Try a known base-game vehicle to distinguish a menu problem from the addon's setup.

The engine, dirt, or radio keeps changing

Check your own Vehicle Hub driving preferences first, especially Engine always on, Keep vehicle clean, and Default radio station. Also review other vehicle-control resources. We recommend disabling all vMenu vehicle features when using Vehicle Hub. See compatibility.

I cannot save the catalog

The resource folder must allow the server to write menu.json and menu.backup.json. Keep your draft open or export it before troubleshooting. The editor does not publish edits until Save changes succeeds.

If another admin has changed the catalog, export your draft before reloading, then compare it with the newer version. Your own successful save applies immediately and should not require a reload.

Personal saves or settings appear missing

Personal libraries, favorites, and mileage use FS-VehicleHub's server KVP data. Menu/player settings use FS-Lib's server KVP data. Check resource names, server data location, and the player's FiveM license. Reinstalling scripts without their KVP data does not restore these records.

Current Vehicle Hub always uses KVP. Old database-mode records are not migrated automatically and are left untouched.

Back up before updating

Preserve these files from the deployed FS-VehicleHub folder:

  • config.lua: your server configuration.
  • menu.json: the current shared catalog.
  • menu.backup.json: the last-good catalog backup.

Also back up the server's resource KVP data for both FS-VehicleHub and FS-Lib. Do not rename either resource during an update. JSON exports help preserve catalog/preset structure but do not replace KVP backups.

Install the new built files, retain your data/configuration, and restart FS-Lib before Vehicle Hub when both are updated. Test spawning, saving, and permissions with an ordinary player account as well as an admin account.

Files you do not need to create

The shipped GTA catalog is built into the server resource. Normal setup does not need catalog.json, catalog-source.json, a runtime folder, a docs folder, or a duplicate config.example.lua. Use the in-game organizer for catalog changes.
